Charles-Francois Gounod (1818-1893) was a French born composer. He is best known for his Ave Maria, his operas Faust and Romeo and Juliette, and Funeral March of a Marionette. The theme from Funeral March of a Marionette was used as the theme for the television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955-1965).
