About the Composer

Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi (1813-1901) was an Italian opera composer. He was born near Busseto, Italy, and received a musical education with the support of a local patron. Verdi dominated the Italian opera scene, and became one of the most important opera composers of all-time. His most successful opera, written during his middle period, include, Rigoletto, Il trovatore, and La traviata.
