Leon Jessel (1871-1942) was a German composer of light classical music and operettas. He is most known for The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers or The Parade of the Tin Soldiers composed in 1897. It was originally composed for solo piano, but has been arranged for many instrumentations including marching bands and orchestras. The melody was included in the Disney feature, Polar Trappers, and the Rockettes have been performing their choreographed version of the piece since 1933 in their annual Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
