About the Composer of "La Cumparsita"

Gerardo Matos Rodríguez (1897-1948) was born in Uruguay. His father, Emilio Matos, was the owner of the Moulin Rouge. He began composing as a student, and his first known work was "La Cumparsita." Today, "La Cumparsita" is considered the most popular classic tango of all time.
