About the Composer of 'The Blue Danube'

Johann Strauss II (1825-1899), or Johann Strauss Jr., was an Austrian Romantic Era composer. He composed over 500 waltzes, polkas, and quadrilles. Known as the "The Waltz King," Johann Strauss II is credited as being largely responsible to the popularity of the waltz in 19th century Vienna. His most popular works include The Blue Danube, Kaiser-Walzer" (Emperor Waltz), and Tales from the Vienna Woods.
