"It Is Well with My Soul" is a hymn by Horatio Spafford (lyrics) and Philip Bliss (music). Spafford wrote the words for this popular hymn following a series of family misfortunes, which culminated with the death of four of his daughters in a tragic ship collision while crossing the Atlantic.
