Hey there!

This lesson will teach you how to play 'Tick Tock' - the fifth piece in the MMF! All-In-One Beginner Piano Book.

Let's get started.

'Tick Tock" introduces the musical term Stacatto. If a dot appears above or below a note, it should be play short.

'Tick Tock' also is your first chance to play the piano with the right and the left hand. Measures 1-4 are played with the right hand, and measures 5-8 are played with the left hand.

The first two measures are made up of eight quarter notes. Quarter notes get one beat. The notes are C-G-D-G-C-G-D-G. They are played with fingers 1-5-2-5-1-5-2-5.

Measures 1-2 sound like this.

Let's try it together.

Let's try measures 3 and 4.

The notes are C-D-E-C-D. The last note is a whole note. It gets four beats. When I play the whole note I will say "hold-that-whole-note". Using this phrase will help you to perform this rhythm correctly.

Measures 3-4 sound like this.

Let's try it together.

Measures 5-6 are exactly the same as measures 1-2, except the notes are in the bass clef. The notes are C-G-D-G-C-G-D-G. They are played with fingers 5-1-4-1-5-1-4-1.

Measures 5-6 sound like this.

Let's try it together.

Measures 7-8 are similar to measures 3-4. The notes are C-D-E-D-C. They are played with fingers 5-4-3-4-5.

Measures 7-8 sound like this.

Let's try it together.

Here's what 'Tick Tock' sounds like all the way through.

Keep practicing! You'll be great!
