Polovetzian Dance No.17 from Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin
for Intermediate/Level 3 Piano Solo from the Free Sheet Music Index
Alexander Borodin was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia in 1833. As a child he received a quality education including piano lessons, though he eventually earned a doctorate in medicine at the Medico-Surgical Academy. Borodin was not as prolific a composer as were many of the composers of his day. His own description of himself was a "Sunday composer." He was a member of the group of Russian composers called The Five, who were dedicated to producing a nationalistic Russian style. He is best known for his symphonies, and his opera Prince Igor.
