Pop Goes the Weasel
from MMF! Songbook

History and Lyrics
Pop Goes the Weasel is a jig that is commonly sung as a nursery rhyme. The song dates back to 17th century England, and was popularized by the colonists. It is often associated with jack-in-the-box toys.

Lyrics
Round and round the cobbler's bench
The monkey chased the weasel,
The monkey thought 'twas all in fun
Pop! Goes the weasel.

A penny for a spool of thread
A penny for a needle,
That's the way the money goes,
Pop! Goes the weasel.

A half a pound of tupenny rice,
A half a pound of treacle.
Mix it up and make it nice,
Pop! Goes the weasel.
