Lyrics for 'One Elephant'

One elephant began to play,
Out on a spider's web one day.
He had such enormous fun,
That he called for another elephant to come.

Two elephants began to play . . . They had such enormous fun...
Three elephants began to play . . . They had such enormous fun...
Four...
Five...
Six...
Seven...
Eight...
Nine...

Ten elephants began to play,
Out on a spider's web one day.
But sad to say the web gave way,
And that was the end of a perfect day.

Actions for 'One Elephant'

Children sit in a circle. One child is chosen to be the first elephant. Forming an elephant's trunk with their right arm, the child walks around the circle swaying their trunk as the children sing. On the second verse, the first child chooses another child to participate. The second child walks behind the first, grasping hands as if they were elephants at the circus (trunks holding tails). this continues until all ten elephants are chosen. When the web gives way, the ten elephants fall to the ground.
