London Bridge
from the MMF! Songbook
History
The first London Bridge spanning the River Thames, between the City of London and Southwark, was built of wood by the Romans around 50 AD. Following the destruction of the bridge in 1136, the original timber bridge was replaced with a stone bridge. Construction began for The Old (Medieval) London Bridge in 1176, and was completed in 1209 during the Reign of King John. The Old London bridge bridge was eventually replaced by the New (19th century) London Bridge, a five arch stone structure, and was built 100 feet west of the original location. In 1968 the stone arch bridge was sold and relocated to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and replaced with a modern bridge. The 19th century bridge has become Arizona's second largest tourist attraction after the Grand Canyon.

Falling down, falling down.
