On the Bridge of Avignon (Sur le pont d'Avignon) is a traditional French song about a rickety bridge that originally spanned the Rhône River between Avignon and Villeneuve-lìs-Avignon. The bridge was built beween 1171 and 1185. The song dates from the 15th century.
