Hey there!

This second lesson will teach you how to play 'Georgie Porgie', the second piece in the MMF! All-In-One Beginner Piano Book.

Let's get started.

The first two measures are made up of six quarter notes followed by a half note. Quarter notes get one beat and half notes get two beats.

Let's try measure 1 first. Measure 1 has four middle C quarter notes.

They sound like this.

Let's try it together.

Measure 2 has two D quarter notes followed by a D half note. When I play the D half note I will say "half-note". Using this phrase will help you to perform this rhythm correctly.

Measures 3 and 4 have the exact they same rhythm. The only thing that changes are the notes. This time you will be playing four E's and three F's.

Measures 5 and 6 have the exact they same rhythm as the previous phrases. The only thing that changes are the notes. This time you will be playing four G's and three D's.

Measure 5 and 6 sound like this.

Measures 7 and 8 repeat same rhythm as the previous phrases. The only thing that changes are the notes. This time you will be playing four G's and three C's.

Practice this piece until you know it, and then you will be ready to try pieces written for the left hand.
